Teachers Pay Teachers Top Ten Sellers in the News

The Business Insider did a post about the Top Ten Sellers on TpT (of which I am currently #3). You can read the whole thing here.

This is Deanna Jump...she is the #1 Seller on TpT!
Some of us have been discussing this in Facebook. We are of course, disgusted some of the comments from clearly ignorant people who have no idea what teachers actually do. All of the teachers I know work incredibly hard and spend a significant sum of their own money on their classrooms.

We were also disappointed that they published the amounts we have made (which is all time, and before TpT takes its cut) and several of us have  asked the reporter to remove it, but only the first people who asked got a response, so mine is still up there. Yes, the money is great, but we all love creating resources that help make teacher's lives easier and benefit students. It would have been nice if they had put some emphasis on that.

We also don't like the use of the term "Lesson Plans" as we feel it is misleading. We create resources, and there is a big difference. A lesson plan is exactly what it sounds like, it is the plan for the lesson, complete with goals, standards, activities, plans for differentiation, assessment etc. Resources include materials such as task cards, worksheets, center activities, educational posters, PowerPoints, handouts, etc. We don't give teachers a blue print for their days, we just give them tools to use - kind of like a text book, but way more engaging.

I am so incredibly grateful to all of you who have purchased from my store. I am honored that you have chosen to use my products with your students. You have changed my life and the lives of my children in ways you cannot imagine.

I've bought a number of your items and find them so helpful in centers for my students. I appreciate the time and energy it takes to create all of the resources that you do. Reporters have no idea the hours that most teachers spend putting lessons and resources together for meaningful lessons. I applaud you and everyone on TpT for your hard work.
